I am blaming Lenovo for forcing us to use bloatware. If the microSD is formatted as adoptable or "internal" you will never be able to read it directly plugged into the laptop, or anything else.

Mainly this is supposed to permit installing more and larger apps, increasing the "internal" storage by combination with the microSD.
